Mungaru Mhalle

Title: Mungaru Mhalle: Monsoon Rain
Date : 30 March 2007
Participants : Harish, Harischandra, Sreenath and over enthusiastic audience in Krishna theatre

One of the classic films of this era due to it’s mind blowing choreography and Heart touching Music. There is a saying that music has no language and no such bifurcations and this movie has proven that correct. I feel happy when many of my non-kannada collegues appreciate the music of this movie and even the choreography of this movie.

Had thought of watching this movie some 2 months back, after hearing so much about the movie from my friends and colleagues and after listening to the songs. Unfortunately I had to go to Gurgaon on some official work, so it got postponed and finally we made it on 30’th March.

Since all Hi-Fi theatres will be booked in weekends, we opted to go to local thetre Krishna, near my residence in KR Puram. The show was at 2:30. We went there by 1:30 to maker sure that we get tickets. Second class ticket counter was not crowded. We preferred to stand in balcony ticket counter. We had some100 people infront of us. There wwas 378 seats in balcony and 650 + in second class. After standing for 1 hour, finally when our turn was nearing , the tickets were sold out. Many tickets were getting sold in block. We now ran to second class counter to see that even it was crowded. Lost hopes of watching the movie on that day. In the mean while some theatre staff approached us for selling block tickets. They demanded 50 RS per ticket, actual price of second class ticket being 20. I said to Sreenath that 50 is more and we should not encourage this. Probably I though from my mind. Then they reduced the price to 40 and since I had lots of desire to watch the movie, we brought 3 tickets by paying 120 bucks (The price u pay for 1 ticket in PVR J , so it was not so high).Sometimes we go against our ethics, when we think from our Heart. Desire is one thing, which makes a person go against his ethics. But to be happy some things, we should think from our Heart.

I would not like to go into the movie story in detail. I would like to take some concepts of the movie and then relate the same to some facts of life (So called Harish Gyan / Philosophy).

This film is about a Bangalore guy from rich family falling in love with a girl from Madikeri, who is about to get married with someone else in a weeks time. Finally the guy sacrifices his love giving respect to human values, proving that sacrifice is much bigger than Love. Their love blossoms in the Mungaru Mhalle(Monsoon rain) in the beautiful scenic locations of Madikeri and Jog falls.

There is a season for everything. It is the God’s creation that there should be right time for everything that happens in his created world. But there is no season or time for a person to fall in Love. A person may fall in Love at any moment with any person. But I feel that there is a right age and time for everything.
It is nowadays common to see college romance, but more than 90% of them end up in failures. Students who fall in these relations may end up failing in their exams, going into depression or even going to the extent of ending their lives. It is mainly because their minds and thoughts are no so much matured to handle these delicate relations. It is better that a person falls in these type of relations after he /she has attained certain level of maturity, a stage where he is not financially dependent on others and where he/ she is capable enough to take their own decisions and implement them. But few things are not in our control.

I would like to make an interesting Comparision:
Raindrops are like the feelings of a person which comes out from his heart, when a person falls in love. These feelings should be well controlled and should be expressed at correct moment with the correct person. The drops of rain get accumulated and they have the power to flood and devastate the entire surroundings effected by rain. So people build Dams , put some flood gates to control it. Even canals are prepared to make sure that, when the flood gates are opened, the water flows in the right path and does not cause any havoc and devastation. Similarly the feelings which a person gets should be controlled. The dam and floodgates are our rich culture & heritage, your own mindset and the mindset of person, with whom you have fallen in Love. If the flood water tends to take a different path, then it may cause irreversible damage. But if it can make it’s own path without causing much devastation, then even that is most welcome.
The canals which may help us reach our destination without causing much damage can be our parents, friends and well wishers.
If you are not able to control your emotions and you tend to make your own decision without caring for anyone, you may end up causing harms to many people surrounding you(Parents, relatives, friends, person with whom you are in love),just like uncontrolled rain water may cause floods.

So always build a dam, have some floodgates to control your emotions and create a proper canal(Channel) to let your emotions flow in right direction ,so that you may not end up hurting yourselves and other people close to you.

About the movie:
Actors : Ganesh, Sanjana Gandhi, Anant nag
Good things : Movie showcasing some values, good music and songs, amazing Camera work. Top view of Jog falls is Mind blowing (You just get lost and say WoW!!!!!!!! So Amazing when u watch it).Entire movie is shot in Bangalore and scenic locations of Madikeri and Jog falls. Good dialogues.
Acting : Good performances by all.
Conclusion : A must watch movie, if you love good music and if you love watching emotional / sentimental movies.

Dear Harish,
Building dam, floodgates, canals does not solve the problem always. Intead it will lead to voilence between people, so it is better to let the water(emotions) flow natuaraly. Remember rain water(emotions) does not lead to floods always, intead it is caused due to human intervention into the nature.
